Original entertainment, dining, camping spaces in Kernaveland
The former technical base area of the Kernavė collective farm (kolkhoz) and the former harvester hangars are gradually being turned into an original leisure and entertainment space, where the remnants of the recent past intertwine with new inclusions, providing minimal modern amenities or claiming to remind of the old past of Kernavė. The 2-hectare courtyard with a wooden tower in the middle (“bar”) visually connects to the rough wooden roofs with benches and tables (“restaurant”).
The latter provide access to a modern kitchen in the “connecting” building. In the same building there are 4 “Nordic guest rooms” and a sanitary area (showers, toilets). Next to them is the “red corner” with preserved “relics” of the former Kernavė collective farm:: “work safety” instructions for mechanics with the motifs of the popular movie “Na wait, Zuiki” at that time (reminiscent of the expositions of Grūtas Park). The giant hangars next door become a hall where there is a stage and discos, although the old vehicles (from the carriages, carts to the ZAZ still parked outside) are reminiscent of a history museum.
In the yard there is a camping-camping area that can provide all the necessary services for 8 modern campers, and for campers to build a tent or a completely exotic accommodation … in shelters on the hay.
In the former technical repair workshop, a forge with working devices and a huge space with 50-year-old technologies attracted the attention of amateurs.
In the meadows belonging to Kernaveland and in the forest around the yard, you can camp by the campfire and without much modern conveniences, there is a “witch’s island” waiting for you, to which the wind often directs a windmill winding on a high chimney.
These large spaces accommodate groups and groups for private parties and camping, with a bespoke kitchen for meals and essential camping services for travelers.
The large spaces ensure privacy and compliance with sanitary requirements and distances, as is relevant in the COVID-19 era.
